OUR STORY

Tiffany Bishop & Whitney Coble
Perinatal Mental Health Certified Therapists
At Raising Resilience, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of Black motherhood. Since our inception in 2018, we have been dedicated to fostering a vibrant and supportive community for Black mothers in Charlotte. What began as an effort to curate local events focused on self-care has grown into a cornerstone of support for our community.
As the world changed with the pandemic, we adapted to meet the evolving needs of our community. In response to the growing need for connection and support, we launched virtual support groups, ensuring that our community remained connected and uplifted during one of the most challenging seasons many of us had ever faced.
In 2021, our mission evolved further and we expanded our services to become a full-fledged maternal mental health practice. We now provide virtual counseling and support to mothers across North Carolina and DC, offering a safe space for healing and empowerment.
Since where we started, we have had the privilege of serving over 500 Black and Brown women — each one reminding us why this work matters. We are committed to continuing this journey together, providing resources, support, and a nurturing community where every Black woman on her maternal journey can thrive.
Our Core Beliefs
Black Moms Deserve Support
1 in 3 Black mothers experience depression or anxiety but are less likely to receive support
If Mom is Well, All Can Be Well
Moms are the vessels. When she is supported and thriving, the whole family thrives.
Fathers & Caregivers Matter, Too
The likelihood of fathers and other caregivers experiencing depression or anxiety increases if mom is struggling.
Motherhood Looks Different for Everyone
We honor all paths to motherhood, including fertility challenges, loss, adoption, and every reproductive journey in between.
We Have to Name it to Tame It
Matrescence is the journey of becoming a mom. We name the shifts so we can handle them.
Healing Takes a Village
We believe in collaboration, consultation, and community among providers who are committed to culturally responsive maternal mental health care.
