WHY THIS EXISTS

Maternal mental health is not niche.
It is foundational.

Every clinician — regardless of specialty — will work with someone who is a mother, someone shaped by maternal attachment, or someone navigating the full weight of the perinatal period. And for Black mothers in particular, pregnancy and postpartum occur within layered stressors including systemic racism, medical bias, cultural expectations, and chronic stress physiology.

Providers must understand these dynamics clinically and systemically. But most don't have a space to work through the complexity of this work — the countertransference, the cultural precision it requires, the toll it takes to do it well.

This mentorship exists to change that. It is a structured, reflective, community-held space for professionals who are committed to doing this work and doing it sustainably.

10 min

Grounding & Check-In

Sessions begin with a brief nervous system regulation or reflective pause, and a professional check-in to orient the group and identify priorities.

45–60 min

Case Consultation

The heart of each session. One or two participants bring cases for structured consultation — covering conceptualization, treatment planning, cultural context, and ethical dilemmas.

10–15 min

Reflective Processing

The group explores clinical themes that emerged — countertransference, systemic factors, patterns across cases, and what it means to do this work sustainably.
