EMDR Support

Trauma isn’t just about what happened to us; it’s how those experiences continue to live in our bodies and minds. For many Black parents, the impact of trauma can be even more complex, shaped by both personal experiences and the historical traumas that affect our communities. This layered trauma can deeply influence our parenting and everyday lives.

When we experience trauma, it doesn’t just go away on its own. It often leaves behind physical sensations and emotional reactions that can be triggered by various things—sometimes without us even realizing it. These triggers can affect how we respond to our children and those around us, often leading to stress or emotional reactions that seem out of proportion to the situation at hand.

Perinatal EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a compassionate therapy that can help with this. While it can’t undo past experiences, it can help us work through the lingering effects of trauma. EMDR helps by processing those tough memories and the physical sensations tied to them, so they have less power over us. It supports our body’s natural healing processes, helping us manage our reactions and responses in a healthier, more grounded way.

We’re here to guide you through this journey and help you tap into your body’s own ability to heal. By working together, we can create meaningful changes in your life, allowing you to feel more at peace and more connected with your parenting and personal experiences. Let’s take this step toward a happier, calmer life, together.
